Contemporary Chinese Women’s Attitude towards Tanbi literature - Feminism or Misogny

ABSTRACT
In recent years, Chinese women’s eager pursuit of the homosexual couple and fan-fiction has brought Tanbi (boys’ love) literature to the public eyes. As we believe Tanbi literature indeed brings unique social influences, little is known about the reasons of Tanbi literature’s popularity, especially its influences to contemporary Chinese women. This essay used literature research method, analyzed female psychology, the history of feminism, and social phenomena. On this basis, the essay also studied the attitudes of Chinese women towards Tanbi literature and the views of Tanbi literature. Results show an inseparable intersection of feminism and misogyny in Tanbi literature and it together leads to today’s popularity of Tanbi literature. Though most of them are incapable of distinguish a clear attitude, feminism always occupies the majority of their unconscious.
